We left the hotel shortly after 615am and bid farewell to the old lady who welcomed us on the day we arrived. I really enjoyed staying at the Edo Sakura and would not hesitate to come back again the next time.
We arrived at the Ueno Train station at 630am and the industrious Japanese worker bees were starting to head to work. We bought tickets on Narita Express which would take us about 45 minutes from Tokyo Station. This time round, I asked as many train officials I could find in order to get onto the right train. We arrived at Narita Airport at 810am, checked-in at the well hidden Air Asia X counter, did some last minute shopping, and then rushed through immigration. The only mistake I made was not to pack my small yellow pocket knife into my check-in luggage so it had to be confiscated by customs. I didn’t make a big fuss as the knife was actually falling apart. It was a good knife though :(
I vividly remembered looking at the clocks at the airport, anxiously wanting to reach the plane’s gate by 10am. Cleared our passport at around 1040am, hurried ourselves to the gates with honz having to jog once in a while to keep up with me. I was happy too see that a lot of passengers were still boarding so we had 10 minutes to spare.
Now high up in the air with Honz catching some snooze and me typing my Tokyo travel journal on my new Macbook, I will conclude by saying mata-air (till next time) Tokyo and Sayonara!!!
