For every detractor or opponent, there will be many proponents of his work. While we can say that’s how politics work, we should be grateful that he used politics as a mean to build a better Singapore.
In 2010, I found his first autobiography, The Singapore Story, still in good condition, near a rubbish chute at my HDB flat. I picked up the book, dust it off and put it on my bookshelf where it has been since.
To me, the book, is not just about Mr Lee. It’s about the journey he took to make Singapore what it is now. The book essentially tells a history of modern Singapore and there is no reason for the book to be callously thrown away.
