Kavan had posted our unit on Friday evening (shortly after we had signed the option) and we got 2-3 prospective buyers coming over to view the flat. Talk about fast!
All we needed to do was keep the flat tidy (not easy with 3 small kids). Of course our schedule was at the mercy of the visits especially since we needed to sell the flat. Thankfully a few days later, we got a Chinese couple who was interested in our unit and on Wed, 25 Jul, we sold the flat to them!
The feeling of selling the flat was somewhat a sad occasion. It was afterall, our first home and it has been a pleasant place to live 5 years in.
To cut the story short, our flat was officially handed over to the new owners on 18 Oct 2018 and we paid about $800 to stay till 3 Nov 2018. Most of the paperwork of our flat was done by the Anthony Law and we didn't even have to go down to HDB for the handover. The lawfirm also handled all matters pertaining to the EC so it's very convenient. The sale proceeds of our flat came and gone towards the purchase of the EC... sigh... nonetheless, it was a relief to have sold the flat early because the EC developer started to get impatient with the 20%. Anyway, everything was settled by mid-November and by then, we were staying at my mom's place. Also secured our EC housing loan with OCBC at 1.6% interest.
The next challenge was to pack all our barang-barang. We managed to squeeze as much stuff as possible at my mom's place but I still had to rent storage at Storhub for $120/mth. Used Shalom for the moving. Shalom was a bit pricy but their service is top-notched and work done in a professional and timely manner. Will definitely engage them again when moving to our EC.

We took lots of photos of our last few days at Fernvale. But worry not as we would still be hanging around the area for a few more years because our kids are schooling nearby. We left behind our sofa, TV console and Ikea wardrobes.
Summary
So there you have it... our experience of buying and selling our home had been a positive one... however, I certainly don't intend to do this often as it's quite exhausting...
Fast forward to March 2019, we received news that the EC got its temporary occupation permit (TOP) on 11 Feb 2019. We were only able to book for the key collection/handover after paying the survey fee and 6-months of maintenance. So excited after seeing a videos and photos shared by our future neighbours in Facebook and chat group. Will try to share our experience in moving to our EC!
