Sun, 20 Sep 2015: Road Revision (830am), Circuit Revision (1020am), Lesson 8 (1245pm).
I am pleased to report that after today's marathon of road/circuit revisions, I managed to pass Lesson 8 with 16 demerit points (in wet weather condition too)! I thought I was going to fail after my left foot slipped just before entering the S course. Am glad that the instructor overlooked that boo-boo...
Lesson 8 went something like this:
a) Go on Test Route #1 and then parked bike at the bike nursery where we were given a short briefing
b) Went off to do Circuit. Rider with the lowest bib number went first.
c) Slope (ok); S course (ok); Crank course (ok); plank (ok but a bit shaky); e-brake (ok)
d) Waited for instructor just after the e-brake Give Way filter exit
e) Went out in groups of threes (there were 5-6 of us). I went with the 1st group.
f) First right turn at CDC main gate (ok)
g) Right turn at Traffic Light. Right Green arrow started to blink just before I reached the stop line. Instructor wanted me to go ahead but I decided not to (instructor no choice but had to reverse back)... hehe
h) Left turn into airport road (ok)
i) U-Turn (ok but I was a bit wobbly due to wet road)
j) Lane changing all (ok)
k) Turn right at main junction (ok)
l) Turn left at next junction (ok)
m) Turn right into CDC (ok)
I was a bit down upon returning as I though I would fail. Since we got back early, I decided to go round the circuit for another twenty minutes. The second group got their results first and they all failed the lesson... the three of us were not feeling all that good but the instructor passed all three of us! Yay!!! So Happy!!! No more nerve wrecking lessons to attend! Just the TP Test!!!
Unfortunately for me, I cannot book the test because I haven't completed my RTT which will be on 17 Oct 2015... *CRY*
Served me right for delaying the last defensive riding lesson. Assuming I pass my RTT, my TP Test would most likely be just before Christmas. Oh well... will need to continue attending Circuit Revisions and Road Revisions. My plan is as follows:
Oct: 1 Road Revision and 1 Circuit Revision
Nov: 1 Road Revision and 1 Circuit Revision
Dec: 2 Road Revisions and 4 Circuit Revisions
Hope these revisions are sufficient to maintain my riding skills until my TP... note to self. Use lousy bikes for all my revisions...
A LOOK-BACK OF MY CLASS 2B JOURNEY
My Class 2B journey has been great fun! Completing the entire course in 12 lessons is something I am proud of. Looking back, sacrificing my weekend mornings doesn't seem such as waste knowing that I have an alternative form of transport to use. I felt learning Class 2B is tougher than Class 3! When I did my Class 3 (private), there was no rigorous testings in order to progress from one module to another. After about 20 lessons, I just book TP and that was it...
2B was really a challenge both physically and mentally but it was still fun nonetheless... not to mention having to ride in the hot sun and getting socking wet in the rain! I read that at SSDC, learners don't have to worry about the elements. Hence, I would like to think I am a better rider for learning at CDC. Heck, CDC learners had to ride on the busy roads of Airport Road and Hougang Ave 3!
Aside from that infamous tu-lan instructor (CDC learners would know him), the CDC instructors are all decent and approachable. I do feel that they can do better by improving their training pedagogy. Using video as part of the training briefings would allow riders to have a visual cue of what learners need to look out for... it gets old whenever they say we didn't check blindspot at god knows which section of the circuit...
This is probably my last blog on Class 2B until my TP test date. If you happened to stumble on my blog, I hope you'd find the info useful. There are other websites and blogs out there too such as:
