13-16 May was T-Baton Instructor Course at HTA. A bit annoyed that I still have 3 more cycles as they didn't count one in 2006/2007... sigh... on a positive note, I got my Staff Sergeant promotion... not that it matters that much to me...

i IIt was an exciting day for Honz and I as we finally got the keys to our new flat in Fernvale! The feeling of having our own home was wonderful even if it's smaller compared to flats in the 80s and 90s. Thanks to the long wait of 3 years, we have enough CPF to pay almost 60% of the flat cost. We hope to cash-in within the next 5-7 years :p Next problem is to find a contractor to do up the place. I'm also happy to have enough savings to pay for the renovations and furnishing in cash. Don't want to be caught in debts! Looking forward to many wonderful years in our 1st flat! March was not a good month though I should be thankful. I'm getting rather disenchanted with the organization. First the reimbursement, then the PB and grade. Sigh... I've lost about $10000 so far this year. I'm now wondering whether I've stayed too long here.
The last weekend was fairly hectic due to my close cousin's wedding. I thought our side held a very grand wedding. The food spread was mind blowing and I thought it was too much!
Anyway, other than the boo-boo with the bus coming very late to ferry us to the bride's place for the nikah, the 3-day affair went relatively smoothly. Here wishing my cousin and wife a blessed marriage! Honz gave us a treat by booking a 2 night stay at RWS Hotel Michael. Although I found the hotel was not worth the $500/night, we thought it was still an ok deal for booking during CNY.
It was also our first staycation! The first day, we went to the newly opened Sea Aquarium. It was really a WoW! Experience despite the large crowd. Food was a little tough to find and we spent most of our meals at Coffee Bean. On the 2nd day, we went to the Beach and Fort Siloso. It then started to rain heavily and we were back at the hotel by 2pm which was followed by a 2 hour nap. We had dinner at Harbour Front Pizza Hut. Sadly, many of the shops were closed during the CNY. So much for our staycation. We spent the rest of the evening in our overpriced hotel room albeit the super comfy bed. We were hoping to explore Sentosa on the third day but we were frightened off by the horde of foreign workers and tourists visiting the island. Sensing that we won't get much enjoyment out of squeezing with the crowd, we headed to the comfort of our home in Tampines. Still it was a nice change from our usual routine. We bought Faris a play tent from Toy r Us! So fun! I love playing in one when I was very young! Kids these days are really lucky.
I brought Faris (as well as Sis and my nieces to the zoo today). I didn't quite enjoy the trip because the gals just kept on whining. Pfft! I'm going to go again, this time without them.
We just got a letter from HDB saying that our new flat in Sengkang is expected to be ready in March 2013! Honz and I got excited and went down to Ikea to get some inspiration for our flat. I had wished that we waited just a year and we would have a gotten a flat in Tampines... I'm quite pissed off by that! Oh well, at least the new flat isn't that expensive. I intend to sell it off 5 years later or maybe rent it out (earn some passive income) and stay with my parents. Heck, I may not even stay regularly in the new flat as someone has to take care of Faris while both Honz and I are at work. We'll see... On other updates, Faris has started walking confidently on his own. Just a matter of time before we have to start chasing him around when he can run. "Groan" Can't imagine how parents with boy twins... By-election fever has started! My school will be a polling station and I have to work on Saturday for the first since 2010. Well, it's a new experience so I'm looking forward to it. 7-13 January was a hectic period! Had to attend meetings on a daily basis... it is still not as bad as in HQ though... My body was also aching a little after going for a 10km jog at East Coast Park with Vincent. Need to improve my fitness in preparation for the coming IPPT in May 2013.
Spent time with family on weekend at home... didn't feel like going out because of the rainy weather... On New Year eve, I went down to my old office in Grange Road to fetch Mane and then to Ion Orchard to meet Eddy for dinner. Boy was I shocked to see the change in the Branch in just 4 months. Sueann left for RC, Dorothea went for NPL, Mrs Pek and Tanveer back to school, Eddy on PDL... I then went to ESD CAO. It was nice to meet familiar faces.
