On paper, the case diameter of 44mm would have been rather large for my 6.75-inch wrist but it turned out looking and feeling great on my wrist. Although it's rather bulky, the watch is light as it is made of carbon reinforced PC (aka hard plastic).
Unlike most plasticky watches, the Colormark feels anything but, except for the grey crown and pushers which really look cheap and tacky... would have looked better if coated in black... oh.. the bottom pushers came off by itself after just 5 days... I sent the watch to the agent that same week and then took 5 weeks to fix it... sheesh!!! The agent had the cheek to tell me that they won't charge me for the repair (external parts are not covered by warranty) because it was brand new... makes me wonder if this so-called diver's watch with 200m water resistance can actually go underwater...
The watch uni-directional (60 clicks) bezel feels great to turn and lines up nicely with the hour markers. The rubber/silicon strap feels nice and comfortable around the wrist. The double pin buckle pin is solid and easy to put on.
Most Luminox dials are rather busy but purposeful. Behind the hardened mineral glass are the hour and minute hands which are clearly visible due to the good contrast between the white hands and the black dial. The white Arabic hours and minutes provide clear legibility. My biggest issue is with the chrono second hand and the small second hand. The hands do not align with the dial minute markers. Granted this is a quartz watch but if a S$99 Swatch can get the alignment right, I don't see why this watch that cost S$430 can't do the same... so much for "Swiss Made"...
Finally, let's talk about the trademark of every Luminox watch and that's the tritium gas tubes. If you think that it will glow as bright as those you have seen in the showroom's specially built showcases, then you're in for a big disappointment. In real life, the glow is weak... but just bright enough for you to view it in very low light... it's brightest when viewed in total darkness which is somewhat difficult to achieve in Singapore's bright city landscapes. For the 3080, the tubes are filled on the 12-o'clock marker on the bezel, the dial hour markers, and the hour and minute hands. There are no tubes on the hands of the chrono functions.
Despite the quirks, it is still a good beater watch. I normally wear this watch when I go for running or biking or just outings with my family. I'm not sure if this is a watch an elite Navy seal or just your average soldier would wear because of the quality issues... but for the casual users, it's a handsome and solid little bugger and getting the colourful versions like the green and orange would add more "fun" to your collection.
